I have a jc penny 981-6241 am-ssb base/mobile, need tune-up info.
Looks like my sears roadtalker inside but need info to get it back on freq its 800hi on am lsb is 1k high/usb 800hi
ampower at 3.5wts/ssb at 8watts
my sears dose 6.5watts dkey am swings to 22watts at 98 mod
ssb dose 18 watts

That is what I found Bomb.

I will keep looking.

I suggest you type JC Penny 981-6241 into google and search through from the beginning. As you get further in the entries you usually pick up more viruses, trojans, etc.

That is my suggestion.

Got the info I needed,
am 6watts @98%mod
ssb 16wattts
am tx 27.2052
usb 27.2062
lsb 27.2040
adjusted freqs with the trimmer caps by crystals
and in the first shieled compartment closest to the face plate is two more trimmer caps
you need to adjust them all for am and ssb is no straight am freq adj on this model
get upper lower ssb in as close as possible and it sets the am freq
weird way of doing it but it works :biggrin:

I have seen that in other radios too, AM and USB is tied together and LSB is not. Did you use a 1khz tone in adjusting the frequency and with the clarifier centered?
