#399383

Post by MD115 »

Hello folks,
I want to instala a cb on my dodge ram pickup.
First I have to decide between a galaxy 959 or Just a cobra 19 iv.

Second I have a k40 antena but something hapoend inside, has a resistor but its not replace le or some one has?

The Second question was about the antena, what kind of antena you do the Best perdormance, if I DONT want to use a wip.

Hello MD115, I like the 959 because it has more features such as sideband . It also has a great noise filter but with all these features it is a full size radio. If your not concerned with the extra stuff the 19 is a compact radio and a bit more rugged in my opinion.
Keep smiling ...It makes people wonder what your up too !

295 Thanks for the comment.. Y I was wandering if in the truck Will need ssb, whsts your experince? No do you use ssb on a mobil? If not a definí ve Will go with the cobra 19 because of the small size and notingh to break. El maybe I Will put a little amo of 100 wats Just to kick a little bit the power.

Can you comment on the antena? It my main concern.

How about something like a Predator 10k. Make sure you check out are sponsors for the best price. And maybe you could match that with a nice KL-203 amp. Just a thought

Mine has an air coil. My next choice would be a 4 foot fiberglass from the truck stop.

Not sure if it is a magnet mount or permanent mount, please specify. The K40 doesn't have a resistor but a capacitor to keep the impedance close to 50ohms. The problem is probably moisture/water in the coil load enclosure. The only other problem I have ran across other than burning them up was bad coax, say it has been pinched in a door jam.
Depending on the year of your Ram will negate where to mount the radio, my Ram is an 2004 and my radios are mounted on the transmission tunnel. I will be changing this soon to a radio that has a removable head unit and that be installed on a gooseneck seat bolt mount.

Ram is 2009 and the k40 is permanent. I jsut check the antena and the continuity on the multimeter tester is shorted. I thinks this is not ok.

Dont really know to much about that antenna.I run a wilson 500 for my stryker 25mc and thats enough for my 20 watts and i still talk all around the local area. As far as sideband is concerned it a personal preference. If your interested in talking am only and mounting space then the cobra will do just fine
