What are some of the companies that sell 200 amp alternators for the 06 freightliner. Is there a way to supply 15 volts to my Texas Star only, and regular voltage to the rest of the truck, I don't want to fry anything. I have heard about external voltage regulators, but am not sure how to set one up, or if I even need to

your 06 is 24 volt if i remember correctly. so you might be able to tap right off the main battery block and run a regulator to deregulate the voltage to your system.


as far as a bigger alternator your best bet would be to contact freightliner directly. it might be more expensive to get it from them but getting it from them could save you some warranty issues in case they get picky about stuff. i don't know freightliners policy on these issues but i know that Kenworth does not and will not warranty anything electrical on a truck if you install something that was not "Kenworth" approved.

check the phone book in your area u may have someone who can rewire your stock one for more current. also if u just want to tap into the 12v supply u can put a capacitor on for the texas star which help keep the voltage around 14v
