Hello CBRT members, I use FireFox web browser. I died on me today to the point it wouldn't' even open. When I clicked on the Firefox icon nothing happened. I had to reload the program from scratch from internet explorer. Has anyone had this happen to them? Any help please. Thank you

I have had intermittent problems with Firefox, but not really that problem before. It's best to update the Firefox whenever an update is available. With most freeware programs, there's a ton of bugs due to lack of corporate funding. It seems like Firefox comes out with a new version every few days, hehe.

It's a good browser though. Maybe you got some type of bug from a website that infected the browser. Just a thought.

I have used Firefox for 3 years and never had that problem. The only problems i have had were when it had an error a couple times and all my bookmarks were deleted (occurred twice).

I've never run into the problem you described either. Been happily using Firefox for a couple of years now and never a glitch. Just been enjoying better control (read: elimination) of pop-ups and ads while I browse.

Its been OK since I reloaded it? I hope it doesn't happen again. I like FF much better than IE. Just going back to IE to reload FF was a pain.

Never had that problem either but I've mostly stopped using Firefox. Take a look at a browser called "SeaMonkey". It's a mozilla project as well and seems to work very well.

Thanks for the heads up. I'd like to check that out. I used to work as a network administrator but quit to come back to my roots of taking over a 2nd gen construction company. Since I got out of computer work I kind of lost grip on a lot of newer programs. I'll let you know how it works out!

I have been nothing but impressed since I left IE for Firefox. No problems here.

I've had it happen a few times with the older versions...but nothing a reboot didn't take care of. And then it would restore my last hits if I wanted it to.

this may be a bit off topic but too save your bookmarks to a file "backup" in firefox ....

click the boomarks tab

click organize bookmarks

a window opens

click file in the top left corner of the window that opened

click export

name file i use a date code no slashes bookmarks2108 or such i back them up about once a month

hope that helps :D

I get that problem every once in awhile. Whenever that happens, do a CTRL-ALT-DEL and then look under the PROCESSES tab. You should see that firefox.exe is still running. Click it and then click END PROCESS down at the bottom. Now you should be able to start Firefox up again.

I have not had any major problems like that. I have alot less problems with Firefox than with IE. IE is bad for getting eat up. I don't know the reason if it is viruses, malware or what ,but IE was bad for me and I have protection. That sounds bad. I have good antivirus software and keep it up dated.

The only problem I've had with it is when I open pages with java apps. Then it shuts down, but is still running in the background. Other than that it's been good.

there was an issue with their most recent update... i am thinking that is why you had to re-download it... i had to do the same, but it was a problem with the automatic update...

I've used Firefox for a couple of years and lately it's taken a long time to open up some websites. It just sits and cranks for a couple of minutes. Took Shiloh's lead the other day and downloaded "Seamonkey". So far, it's proven to be much faster than Firefox. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles, but, is proving to be more than adequate.
