A while back someone posted some stuff about 8 volt batteries. Here's some info I have on them.
8 volt batteries are commonly used in golf carts. I've used them in competition car audio systems in order to get 16 volts.
You have to wire the batteries in series. You will take the negative lead from one battery and connect it to the positive lead on the other battery. DO NOT HOOK ANYTHING ELSE UP TO THOSE POSTS!!! This will leave you with a positive post on the first battery and a negative post on the second. Those are the posts you will use for your power connections.

I don't think so, but you can get an aftermarket alternator with an external voltage regulator and charge at whatever volts you want to charge at.403 wrote:Do they make 18 volt alts?
Do not run your cars stock charging system over 15 volts. Running an alt with a voltage regulator is only good for a second alternator not tied in with the stock charging system.
About the dual 8 volts. I have friends running these on bases. They work nicely. As with all battery experiments, PLEASE check the voltage with a volt meter or multimeter before touching your amplifier to it!!! Better safe than sorry.
