dag blame antenna....
dag blame antenna....
ok, this thing is giving me a fit..again.
coming home today, my predator 10K, just quit working?
started getting very choppy recieve, then it dropped all signal.. checked jumpers, & the radios.. then I noticed ... You can actually hear the antenna's whip waving in the recieve..
some audio is there as long as truck is still, shake the truck.. it shakes the recieve & makes it choppy.....
is this another ground issue?
I mean I have more ground straps on my truck than horse power in it..
:Peace!:

Ditto that. I've had the same problem for the last 6 months...replaced and re-did all my connections, etc. Still happened. Found (1 at a time) a bad jumper coax, and the connection on the radio itself had a little corrosion in it that I didn't see. I replaced the connection and jumper, and all is good now.
It's frustrating sometimes...especially when everything checks out good and has been redone!

UNLESS...You have hit a low flying Red-Tailed Hawk, I don't think your problem is the antenna...Like said before...sounds like a bad jumper, or coax. Or could be your Pl259 connector on the back of your radio is loose. (I had this happen once)
I also found that "IF" you hit a low flying Red-Tailed Hawk, the 10K will not hold-up! Coils flatten-out, and get feathers stuck all over it. Also will snap off the antenna at the mount. By the way...the Hawk didn't come out much better!

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
:8_too_funny: 109 mph.... :8_ROFL: red tail hawk....
Mercy,
my problem don't sound so bad now.. checked all the jumpers.. think its a ground issue with the mount.. picked it up and set it back down.. working fine now.:
never got a hawk with a predator 10K(yet) but got one with a grill of 85 mercury once.
messy.. lol
:Peace!:

Damn Hawk destroyed that 10K. Had a friend of mine that I talk to every morning going to work, hit a black bird with his. It just bent the coil all-up, but what was funny to see, was the bird was stuck in the coil!
Was a site to see, watching him try to get the bird out of the coil. :88-yucky: But lucky for him, all he ended up having to do, was straighten out the coil...and find a car wash....
