I have a ground plane kit coming for my A-99. Is there anything special I need to know prior to installing it on the antenna? Does the Antenna need to be retuned once it is added for example?
It shouldn't need re-tuning. Or better put, mine didn't. But I've never been afraid to adjust the rings either. It's always a good idea to throw a SWR meter inline after any changes especially. If for no other reason than piece of mind. The kit is very straight forward, and easy to install.
Cool. It should be delivered tomorrow or Wednesday. Should be warm enough to get it on there and raise the whole thing up some like I've been planning. Then all I need to do is get another radio for a base.
I was thinking about either the 80 watt Magnum S9 or a Galaxy 5T. Both have side band which I've never used but would like to check out. The 95T may win out because it will do 175+ watts after the peak and tune.
