There you have it, 4' Firestik II on a 5" Mag Mount... Now I did cheat a little by adding a think film of Silicone Gasket Adhesive to the base to give it a little extra grip... But I've whacked a Hotel Driveway roof good when I first put it up and had to detour around some construction... Made one hellacious racket but it held tight.

you're talking about the Lil' Wil, I have one. 38" whip, total height is like 42" or something... not a bad antenna although can only handle 150-300W. Go for around 29.95Working Cowboy wrote:doesnt wilson have a small mag mount called a little trucker or little buddy or little something I see those things all the time its only like 18 inches max but it is supposed to do well under standard Federal class clown standard radios.
shortstuff,
Short answer, yes
Looks like Glorfendill has already done it. See above
Herbman is right about the Wilson lil' Wil.
WorkingCowboy, also mentioned the Wilson lil' Wil. It is the most decent small and short mag-mount antenna I can think of, and it's performance and price should be close to what you are planning with the firestik.
The Wilsons steel whips have a clean appearance because they are so thin.
I compared the Wilson lil' Wil, to the Wilson 1000, and 5000 mag mounts.
The 1000 and 5000 were very close to each other, and both outperformed the lil' Wil by 20%. I use the Wilson 1000 mag mount on the family car for trips. I sold the Wilson 5000, because the Wilson 1000 has a smaller, cleaner looking coil, that doesn't seem to reduce the TX or RX performance.
I tried mag-mounting a fiberglass antenna that was a step or two down from the firestik, and had very poor results.
