What is everyones opinion on using a t connector to conect two antennas to the radio?

I have used it before to run 2 antennas on a pickup but had high SWR and just went to 1 and no more SWR problem.

I never did any testing to find out why the high SWR, it could have been something else

Using duel antennas ( as is my understanding ) would not give you a good tx rx area as most applications wont be able to space then far enough.

Wont work. swr will be thru-the-roof!

What you have to do, is use a co-phasing harness, which use's RG 59 coax,(75 ohm coax).

And even then, antennas will need to be spaced at least 9' apart, to tune properly. (been awhile sence I used one of these, so the distance between the two antennas, may be different than 9'...Best I remember it was 9'.)

Jessejamesdallas is right on....SWR through the roof.

I used to have '85 Camaro Sport Coupe with duals on the trunk lid (little radio shack antennas). I ran a T connector into my Tweaked out Cobra 148 GTL. My friend tested it after about a month of bad reception and found that the SWR was about 3 or higher. I couldn't believe it. I went down to a single Wilson 5000 mag mount on the roof and my SWR immediately dropped to below 1.2. T connectors are just bad news all around in my book. Seems like just another way for the CB shops to make a buck not only on the connector, but on radio repairs after you burn up your radio.

Just my 2 cents (damn, I need to make this line part of my signature).

Took the words outta my mouth. Yep, and 9' is the length of a 1/4 wave. Any closer, and I believe you'll get directivity of the signal.

After I posted here last. I decided to go back and try to install a Co-Phase antenna set-up on my Ford E450SD Box Van...

Already had a co-phase harness, so decided to hook-up 2 Predator 10K, 12" shaft single coil antennas, on the mirrors...

Not quite 9' apart, but got them tuned to 1.2...Sence my truck has this big box on back, like a moving van. Lots of my signel gets blocked. So was thinking maybe with 2 antennas (one on each side) my signel would improve....

Well...maybe it did, but not enough to realy make any difference...Also took alot longer to set, than just one antenna...Personaly, dont think it was worth the time. Probably will go back to just one antenna, on the driver's side...

I allways did like things simetrical. I ran duel antennas on my trucks for years. never had much luck with it either.
