yeah i would have got the regular version too. it looks like the competition version is just a peak and tune and turned up the modulation. anyways look like a great radio and for that price you cant beat that. i might have to take a look at one of those and talk to al and see how much a viagra board would cost to install in that. two pill tobacco field mobile is back quiet

That's a good deal.

Anyone wanting a Galaxy 959 outta get one of these b/c it has an even better frequency counter than the 959. The meter isn't as nice, but who needs that.

Got my 2 Texas Ranger mobiles today 1 of each .

Both Receive and Transmit ok into dummy load. The modified version is definitely a swinger on AM with 2 1/2 watts swinging 35 output .

Put them both back in the box and added them to my radio pile .You can never have enough radios :D

Looks like the Competition radio has issues HIGH SWR on SSB like it goes into oscillation Go to keyup radio on SSB it shows HIGH SWR talk into mic the swr drops to 1.1 and AM has no mic audio .That is weird. INTO DUMMY LOAD which is broadbanded SSB talks normal .I was thinking about installing the FD-1 Competition in the wifes vehicle for vacation trips with amp .
