im curently running a firestik and would like to put a wilson 1000 roof mount on my 2001 dodge extened cab 1500 and would like to know how hard it is to pull down the headliner
I know some cars have these little spots that have an indention like the edge of a penny and you turn those to release part of the headliner. Then you just take off the trim on the sides and it comes right off. It shouldn't be TOO hard to do. Just poke around the door frame. Most of the plastic stuff is held on by clips and a good tug will pull it right off.
Be careful, though. Some panels may be screwed down in places. I've run wires for my radios from the trunk [where the battery is] to passenger area, and I've had to unscrew trim and lift up carpet to get in there, but it's no big deal. Good luck!

I would find a custom shop, headliner shop, or sunroof shop, and ask a few questions about your exact vehicle, and how to do it.
Maybe they will do it for cheap?
Stuff like that crumbles in my hands, I'd be scared to do it myself.

Be very careful, The material is attached to a thin piece of foam which after a few years is brittle. all A and B pillar trim must come off as well as edge trim. if you have the roof consol with controls and or the wire going to the mirror you will have to pay extra attention to that.
All in all I would recomment you opt for a mag mount rather than poke a hole in that roof.

Yea, I have a couple Dodge's, too. Pretty thin metal up there. I've not had the guts either to tear into mine. But if you are set on doing a roof mount, I'd probably recommend maybe considering the Wilson 5000 over the 1000...especially if you can swing the added few extra bucks. I have a couple of Wilson Trucker series (1k & 2k), and they perform pretty well...but not as good as the 5k does. It'd be a bummer to go to all that work only to find out it's medeocre.
The Wilson 5k mag mount would indeed be a good choice, too (as mentioned). It's pretty hefty, and comes with RG8x coax vs. most all others that use RG58U.
I do think that a base loaded Wilson (which ever one you choose) would look great and perform well there...no doubt about it.

DO YOU HAVE A SLIDING GLASS WINDOW? IF SO, I WOULD GO THAT ROUTE IT WOULD BE A LOT EASIER. TOO BAD IT'S NOT A QUAD CAB COULD RUN UNDER BACK DOOR THAT'S WHAT I DO!
