What are good SSB channels? I know 38 LSB, but are there others that y'all use?

Hi nighttrain,

It is a gentlemen's agreement that channels 36 to 40 are for SSB. It is not written in stone, but for the most part it is observed. Many Ham operators will come down to those channels on SSB. I do know that many operators, Ham and CB alike, will go to one of the free-band channels as a compromise.

You may find them on 27.6050 Mhz. Of course this is "Unauthorized" but they are there. Any legal channel can be used for AM or SSB. In this area channel 19 is the trucker channel. Channel 38 LSB is used here locally in Ct. for SSB.
Respectfully as always,

Rick

i heard from a friend that 27.605 is the sidebanders channel too. if you have sideband and uppers, you can get there... meaning you're serious about radio, and not some **Censored** ratchet jaw who knows nothing of radios and just likes to **Censored** people off....

i've only talked on ssb once with wrongway. we got a good signal where AM was completely impossible to even hear some static from the other person. i've yet to talk on ssb besides that, but i just learned about that freq. yesterday.
Dammit Wrongway! I drilled the freaking hole!

Hi Twink,

Sideband is the only way to go. You get half the noise and twice the distance because SSB is 100% efficient while AM is only 25%.
