Advice on purchase of SSB CB

Hello,

Can I get advice on purchasing an ssb CB (or 10m export) under $300.00?

I'd like to have some suggestions as far as which model to buy that has the best, stable performance on ssb in that price range.

I am considering the RCI 2950DX at Copper Electronics.

The 2950 is a lot of radio. If you plan on using it for 10 meter Ham that would be an excellent radio to use. If you just want a simplex radio for CB I suggest the Magnum S-9.

You can go a lot cheaper if you do not use SSB. I like the now discontinued HR 2510 for SSB amd Ham.

I was looking at both the 2950 and the S9. Glad to hear you consider them both good radios.

I want to spend the extra money for ssb, so that's no problem.

The s9 would be my prefered choice, they cover cb, upper, lower chnls and 10 meters, a wide range of radio, and they perform very good on all modes.
They are already peaked/tuned from the factory also.

2950DX is a fine radio. Someone just had 1 listed they won at a hamfest new in box around 200.00 about a week ago.

The advantage of the 2950 is the ability to use a repeater on 10 meters above 29.69000 MHz. The radio has a split channel capability.

I suppose it's a moot point by now, but I just bought a Magnum 257 10MTR rig, and it's rock solid stable on ssb, and has 26-30 mhz coverage. It also has split capability on 10 for repeater use if that is important to you. A very lot of radio for under 200 dollars. If you choose one, be sure to open the microphone and adjust the volume pot up (It's a factory power mike), big difference.

I just bought a Magnum 257 10MTR rig, and it's rock solid stable on ssb, and has 26-30 mhz coverage. A very lot of radio for under 200 dollars.

It is a nice little radio for under $200 and if you change the crystal at X3 from a 10.6975 to a 12.6975 it will operate on 12 meters.

I've been using it for a month now, and whether frosty mornings- or hot afternoons- I've yet to touch the clarifier. The fact that you can save favorite frequencies including the operating mode (AM FM USB LSB) and instantly recall them is just icing on the cake.
