I have never owned a Gen Lee so I am not sure of its capabilities. My SWPed RCI-2970 is great on SSB and after the latest improvements by RAR the AM output has gotten me nothing but compliments.

My HR2600 is awesome on sideband. Loud and broadcast-quality clarity. Catch me on 38LSB when skip rolls in,

Re: SSB radio with General Lee audio power
I am not looking for any "style" radio more like a radio that is a solid performer- not a ton of drift, good audio, freq counter or ability to add one, great modulation, and band selection would be a few things I want in the radio
I see some radios have am, fm, usb, lsb and cw what is CW??

I'm not sure what you mean by "audio power" but dollar for dollar, you are way out ahead of the game buying a small amp and a regular ssb cb than buying some high output radio and pushing it hard. For the cost of a high output ssb rig, you can get a $120 galaxy and an amp and be doing double the power.

^^^ with all those dits and dahs, you look like a hammy too, or you did a lot of translating. CW is morse code, aka "continuous wave", a dieing art, but fun.tx213 wrote:-.-. .-- / .. ... / -- --- .-. ... . / -.-. --- -.. .

Not yet drdx. I keep thinking about it. But the wife is not happy about the money I "waste" on radios now, if I passed the test she might get really upset.
Unless I found one radio for all and then she might be OK with it. Had a guy trying to sell me a Yaesu 857d the other night but it just lacked something in the audio on AM, sounded good on SSB though. I think that is what he said it was, I can't remember clearly right now.

P.S. sorry did not mean to hijack your thread. Merry Christmas to all. Santa did not bring me my 2950 but at least the kids are happy.
