Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?
My daughter's boyfriend works for a company that use CB's in there work trucks, they mess with them get them really screwed up ( or so they think) and throw them away! Soooooo he lets me have them for FREE! Some are screwed up and some work fine so I practice on them (MODS and whatnot) I've got 4 Cobra 25's, 4 Cobra 29's, 1 PC68, Most of the time they have the PA switched on or a LED or Meter light out so as long as he keeps bringing them to me I'll keep takeing them. He brought a Galaxy 979 home they threw out Nothing wrong with it, but he kept that one for himself

i needed a meter for power/swr and whatever else i could get extra for same price. i did some review searching and found telepost LP100A a very accurite power/swr plus all relative anntena info comes with software to conect to computer and plot with smith charts. it was alittle priceee $435 or if u have time get the kit for $335 very nice meter and worth it.

Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?
Just bought a Predator 10K with 22" shaft and Predator stud mount from RA. Can't wait till it gets here. I will be staring at the mailbox till it arrives. Also just got a recieve preamp board I was planing on installing in my "new" TRC 448. And a couple of lightening arrestors. My 11 year old son has his own set-up now so we need to soon install all that gear. He is so excited to have his own base, he didn't even complain when I told him he needed to dig a 75' trench from the house to where we are mounting his antenna so we can bury the conduit for his antenna cable.
Also almost have a new power supply completed thanks to a thread on this site about converting an old computer power supply.

Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?
I have multiple vintage CB's out in the garage. I'll get some info and pics up later. One of them is a 1970's Chrysler Corporation AM/FM/CB radio. I have the radio, antenna, and coax. I haven't been able to find anyone that can tell me what it's worth.

Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?
I just purchased an Astatic 636L Mic and a Midnight Special 500watt Linear. The microphone is extremely better than that the stock mic. The Linear was bought to replace the RM Italy KL 203 is was running in my truck. The RM Italy was great and never gave me any troubles. I just got a bit power hungry. So far im loving my setup.[Please login or register to view this link]#

Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?
I'm new here and have been out of the radio hobby since the early 80's. I don't know why but a week or so ago I thought that it would be fun to set me up a base station. After researching for a few days. (Things have changed a lot since I was involved.) I purchased all of the makings for a little station. Most of this stuff came from sparky's cb shack. I ordered up a Galaxy dx 959,a pyramid 7 amp supply, a tram base antenna, 50' of coax and an Astatic D 104m6b power mike. I was tinkering around today and built me a dipole so I ordered an AB switch so I could use both antennas. I'm just doin' the pee pee dance waiting for all of the neat stuff to come in on the big brown truck.

Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?
I've also been out of Radio for quite a while , probably since 2001 but i got the itching to play recently.
So far i've gotten a really nice Galaxy DX88HL , a little skeleton 150 modulator and a wilson 1000 magnet mount.
Those were all gifts from my dad who seldom plays radio these days..... Thanks dad !
I've also been doing a little side dealing since i hooked the mobile up and tonight i picked up a few items.
Cobra 29LTD with connex echo / talk back and rebel face plate in mint condition with RK56 mic.
Magnum S380 (Not the nitro) like new condition with box plus paper work and a RK56 mic.
Some odds and ins , a few external speakers and other misc items like coax and a coil type antenna.
I paid $100.00 for everything !
