I am simply saying be careful, because on several occasions, I have seen people ask about fiberglass antennas, and no-one has ever recommended Francis, and I have talked to a few CB shops about fiberglass antennas, and Francis never showed up at the top of the list.
Take what I say "with a grain of salt" because I do not have much experience with them.
I did talk with one fellow that was 20+ miles away, that really liked the 102" fiberglass antenna that he was using. It may have been a Francis.
I also think that a 96 - 102" fiberglass antenna can be in a league of its own, and the sheer size of it should give you good results.
I suppose you have ruled out the Mr. Coily, and Predator 10K products?

Hey thank you both,
I have a 5' fire stick currently and I am not happy with the performance. They are a really heavy antenna. I can not afford the the likes of a 10K nor do I want to take it on and off every time I park in my garage like I am doing right now. I would love to have one though.....
With the 102" glass whip I can just bend them over and park, NBD. The SS whip bend over way too much for me and I did not have any luck in the past with them.... oh well.
Thank you all again,
Ross

I have always had good luck out of the Francis antenna'a myself but now run a 10K my brother is using a 96' Francis right now with a Cobra 25 LTD and a little Texas Star Mod V Modulator and it talks great for what it is havent checked the SWR'S on it but like i said it does good for him but i don't no that much about the stuff myself so i guess i shouldn't of even put this post on here.
New info'...thanks for sharing that. I had no idea they bought both companies. BTW, the old Francis Amazer was a very good performer. It's also fairly tall like the fiberglass 1/4 wave whip, but works better. If you can get one of those they are decent.Mr.RadioActive wrote:Francis antennas are now owned by Barjan (the same co that brings you fake leather jackets at truckstops, and rabbit foot keychains!!), they bought them at the same time as Wilson Antenna.
