simple mixer to cb hook up!!!!!
4 pin cobra.
parts used- mixing console, 1/4" male mono plug, 1/4" mono female jack, 4' good shielded patch cable, mic, xlr cable, 4 pin cb mic plug, korg sustain pedal.
cut cable, mine was half.
solder 1/4" plug to patch cable, the shield goes to pin #1 on the mic plug, the hot or center, on the cable goes to pin #2.
the female jack gets the other half of the cable. hot to the tip and shield to the sleeve. then on the other end, shield also goes to pin #1, the hot goes to pin #3, pin #4 gets the same ground as 1 pin #1 (for your receive) plug the sustain pedal into the female jack, an xlr into your mixer, the 1/4" plug to the output of your mixer, the mic plug into your radio and you're done!
I used an alesis multi mix 8 that i use to submix my keyboards, a shure beta 58, and a chinese cobra 29ltd classic, and have the best reports on it all day!!! i ran my digitech gsp2101 trough an aux send used the compressor, delay, reverb, chorus, i mean the possibilities are endless. the tubes in the preamp help ALOT!!!!!

Re: simple mixer to cb hook up!!!!!
I suppose instead of using a sustain pedal, I could just use the Cb mic if I could find out how to wire it correctly, no?

yes you could but that pedal was $30 and they make cheaper ones. A music store will sell a cheap one for about $10 or $15.

Re: simple mixer to cb hook up!!!!!
Ill go find one for sure then. I'm excited to do this, just gotta wait and be patient. Unfortunatley the first part of the month is never good paycheck wise :D. How do you sound now on the cb? better?
Thanks again for your help. I realized we are both musicians, probably why we just have mixers (in my case a digital 8 track) laying around haah

motormouth maul has a great setup. I want to hear a mixer without the mauldulator board and see if its just as good.

Re: simple mixer to cb hook up!!!!!
Ok I have been staring at this for weeks and think I finally figured it out.
The sustain pedal is the Tx key switch. Is this correct?
I have a digital echo pedal that I want to hook up to send the audio through.
I guess I could build a box that would split the audio and send it through the echo then back to the box and into the cb.
I believe it would be similar to your box right?

Re: simple mixer to cb hook up!!!!!
yes the sustain pedal is the key switch. the echo will hook up through the mixer. through the aux sends if your mixer has it. the aux send to input, return to the output of the pedal.
It works with a cobra 29ltd classic. the jacks are mono.

Re: simple mixer to cb hook up!!!!!
I am thinking about trying this but I have 1 question. Will a typical mixer like a Berringer Xenyx 1202 work with a radio requiring a HiZ mic input? I want to plug a mixer into my FT101 and see how it sounds.

Re: simple mixer to cb hook up!!!!!
You really need low impedence. It will work. Take your cable, wrap it up in about a four inch circle. This will help to filter out any noise in the cable. Behringer is the best for radio i think. They used rf in the factory when designing them to help them make the mixers quiet. You will love on the 101 especially on ssb. Sorry for the delay.

Re: simple mixer to cb hook up!!!!!
How about using this with mixer software on a pc running through Mic interface on radio is that as good as direct injection i have heard it loses what you create some going through the mic circuits in radio!
Re: simple mixer to cb hook up!!!!!
It is not in my opinion. You are using good equipment, but if your feeding it into the mic input. You are still going through the radios audio section. You need to get your good sounding audio pass that. It needs to be injected.0498 wrote: February 9th, 2021, 11:27 pm How about using this with mixer software on a pc running through Mic interface on radio is that as good as direct injection i have heard it loses what you create some going through the mic circuits in radio!
