MFJ-4245MV Power supply

Post by TrainHorn206 »

Anyone know how to bypass protection mode on this power supply? It is a 45 amp supply and goes into protection at 25 amps. It as absolutely unacceptable. I hope there is a vr or potentiometer somewhere, if not I will remove it all together.

Thanks a lot,

Out of desperation I have tried many different things. It seem the farther away the power supply is the more it will handle. And also if I bypass my meter. Which leads me to believe that it is not the amps that puts it into protection mode. Its the stray RF energy. But my plug and play 6 has no affect on it. Just what ever I hook to it. Will a load test. It ran 40 amps for an hour no issues today. As soon as I put a 2 pill 2290 on it it shuts off. I am almost going to shoot this thing. I thinkcit might be smarter than me. Damnit man.

I feel your pain man. I have similar problems with my Jetstream 45 amp digital power supply.
Very rf sensitive and shuts down on loads that aren't even 35 amps...but if you bring up the carrier
slowly...you can pull 35 amps all day long. I can run my two pill with 1446's on it...but just barely.
I can't run a 2970n2 on it...it dies as soon as carrier is modulated. I did find that by putting a
nice big 2f cap in line that it will run the 2970 on AM just fine...but I have to turn the ssb down to
under 200w. You might try a big cap between the two pill and the amp to give yourself a bit more
reserve. The voltage pulls down more slowly then and it doesn't trip the circuitry. Should handle that
two pill then. (combination of over sensitive voltage protection and not enough capacitance in the supply)

Modifying Cobra 29's is my hobby.
