Need LOW Key Base antenna for my House.HELP ME RADIOACTIVE!
I just bought a home in a subdivision in North houston and we have a home owners association .The house is built with the back roof on an angle slanting downward and a large chimney for me to mount onto.
The antenna has to be a single pole so as to not attract too much attention and it cannot go higher than 10 ft above the ridge on the roof so you see it from the front.I live in a cul de sac and the neighbors are nice and all have cable or Direct T.V in their homes.
I am going to order a Ranger 2985 or 2995 from Radioactive and the antenna from him as well but want a good antenna to talk skip on when I am home.Currently I am in IRAQ as a government contractor and will be home in late july to make this all happen.Any good input would be appreciated. An indoor antenna is out of the question so help me if you can please. thank you , David Camp Anaconda, Iraq

Antron A99 is a white fiberglass antenna,,,I talk skip all the time, its 18 ft tall, so you could mount it low enough not to go more than 10 ft above roof line, its just a straight white antenna shouldn't gain much attention,,,not sure if a staurn antenna(or Signal Mate) will allow you to talk skip,,its a fiberglass antenna also, but very short, about 2 to 3 ft long....good luck
Forgot to mention would it be crazy to mount a very nice mobile antenna and what would the advantages v.s the disadvantages of doing so.Would a predator 10k get out there or am I looking at the Antron 99 or Imax ? I want to put some power on it and at least a M-400 from Radioactive ....My last radio I still have is a old Cobra 139XLR and I used it in my big rig with a little power behind it and she would get out there.Used it as a base for over 20 years and I bought it new in 1979 and ran it stock with a Starduster base antenna that is still on my parents home in Connecticut .
I just pm'd him because I want to get a RCI-2985 Superwhacked with a good mic and a 2 pill base amp or a 1x2 . I am considering the rci-2995 but need to know what is the difference between the 2 .I looked at the Enforcer which is the little brother of the jay in the mohave but I wonder how BIG the elements are?? Also went to mr.coilly's site and he has some nice antennas but I want to buy from RADIOACTIVE ONLY....I know I cannot go wrong, EVER!! Thanks for the help guy!! It is getting hot here in Iraq now and the summer has just started....140 degrees here it comes take care
The antenna system is the most important part of the whole picture. Nothing other's haven't been able to overcome though. Whatever you do, make sure you install a low pass filter (good one) and ground the heck out of every piece of equipment inline. Do not miss this step or no matter what antenna you have you'll have complaints (IMO).
If it were me, I'd probably consider mounting an A99 low. Believe it or not you can replace the top section of the A99 with something else smaller. I've done it. I installed a 4' Tiger instead of the 8' fiberglass tip. I was just playing around to see how it'd work. I made no difference (noticably anyway) on either RX/TX. I wouldn't put a 10k up there because of it's weight...but that would allow you another 4' or so of getting the majority of the antenna in the air.
What about a tree? Do you happen to have any you can hide an A99 in? Throw some simple latex type paint on it and stick it up. Just a thought.
I can think of many things you can do, but without seeing the things around it, it'd be guess work.
