skip is rolling again
Is the 16 done? Did you build it from scratch or rebuild a broken box?MudDuck wrote:I was gonna convert the 12pill to a 16pill, but just decided to build a new 16pill instead... I will still use the 12pill for a backup or just sell it, who knows .. I'm going with the fighting sticks... Should be interesting.... I just want a decent talking truck for skip conditions, I dont really care about shoot outs... Not really into all that...

Fighting sticks don't seem like a good idea for a ride around skip talker.
That's to much like work changing antennas around all the time. Sounds like that suburban will do some talking when done.
You gonna start making bigger boxes?
Somebody want to fill me in on the difference between a fighting stick and a coil antenna?
I think the coils would be like a predator, monkeymade, or mr. coily since they have coils.
I got some purdy hefty sticks in my woods that I could use to fight with. I don't think that would be the same thing though...

Fighting stick would be straight round aluminum that slide into eachother to tune. These are very tall. Mostly used in the keydown scene.Rex_foxhound wrote:Somebody want to fill me in on the difference between a fighting stick and a coil antenna?

A coil would be a shaft with a open coil in middle and a stinger/whip for tuning.
ITS THE MISSOURI MAGICMAN
Well I've come to learn that my new RadioActive 95T2 is a skipping beast. I've shot skip to Texas, North & South Carolina, Virginia & West Virginia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia just to name a few. So far I've found that if I can hear em, I can talk to em...So if you hear, Anybody got a copy on that Missouri MagicMan C'mon...feel free to hollar back and if I hear you I'll send back a big ole wave back from where ever I am mobile at the time.
I skip around
I skip around...no pun intended....2, 6, 11, 14, 18, 20, 26, 28, 26, 38, & 38LSB. If 19 is quiet or just full of BS, or I'm at the truckstop and bored...I start chasin the skip. Funny story happened to me Friday...I was coming out of New York and I heard CB shop standing by on channel 21, after hearing this like three times I got curious so I hollered Go ahead CB shop whats your 20...he responed exit 26 driver...I thought exit 26, I asked him what highway he came back exit 26 on I-20 Georgia...I came back laughing and and said well hell I'm up in New York in my semi don't think your gonna help me...which his response was laughter as well followed by I guess not...but hell I thought you were only a couple of miles from me driver :Peace!:Phaze91460 wrote:What Freq were you on ?
Doin good Steve. I havent had time yet to run the new coax but I did get the new ends. I am going to try tomorrow since thats the only day I will have any free time for a while. I have a new antenna mount to install as well and then spend the hour or so to set the SWR again.
I fired up the 4 pill this evening on the way home and was able to talk to friends that were on their base units. One is between 40 and 50 miles as the crow flies. He said I was hittin him with an S7 and I have never been able to talk to him on the mobile ! Thats what I wanted the 4 pill for.
Thanks again Steve !
