102 whip
102 whip
I am gonna get a 102 whip when i get my new radio from radio active i was wondering if anyone knows where i can get one also i have a s10 yes it is a weak truck but it do work really well with a topper and a ladder rack i was thinking about putting it on there. or between the cab and the topper any suggestions would be welcomed.
Most if not all your local CB shops will have them.
I know Radio shack has them but they might have to order it for you.
Mount it as high and out of your way as you can. Mine is on the passenger side of my toolbox.
My old truck (S-10 also) has it on the top of the bed center of the cab and that made a nice location.
But on your truck with the topper Id say on the side of it up at the cab, or actually on the side of the ladder rack.

Yea, I'd say much of it depends on the canopy (topper) you have...as far as material. Mine is fiberglass which is invisible to RF. Aluminum isn't though. If you mount it between the cab and topper you will likely have some side reflection issues. They aren't hard to accommodate for, but still somewhat of a hassle.
I've been thinking alot about my rig mounting too. Ideally you'd mount it on the roof. But some don't care for the looks and indeed it'll find most every low hanging tree limb. It would handle the hit, but sounds inside the cab like you were hit with by a tank! LOL!
They are a decent performer no doubt. I'd also suggest (as stated above) the higher the better...as far as performance goes. But understandably there are trade offs.
