Depending on what, and where your planing on mounting the antenna, would determine which is best for you.
Now. The 27" shaft Dual Coil 10K is my over-all favorite. If used on a Tri-Mag mount, mounted on the roof, you should have no problem getting swr flat across the band.
The 17" shaft and 22" shaft 10K's would be my second choice's...Not much different in low swr. May not get flat swr across all channels, but still under 1.2 swr...
Some like the Single Coil antennas better, because the over-all height is taller than the Dual Coil 10K's. Which can make a difference when talking in DX...But I dont seem to have any problems in DX with my 27" shaft Dual Coil 10K....
If mounting on mirror's, or something like a ladder rack, or roll-bars. Then I would go with either the 9" or 12" shaft, Dual Coil 10K.

Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
I think I am running the shortest 10K.
I dont remember the designation but John at Pred 10k antennas got it for me. It is mounted on my ladder rack. From ground to tip I need 12' clearance but I am finding that in tree covered properties I am able to get through ok. I dont think I could if I had a taller antenna. I may buy an antenna that is taller for when I want to talk DX mobile and maybe on the highway only but for now this one is great.

Am I reading you right? You need 12 feet of clearance? That's not that short is it? I was thinking of upgrading the Wislon Lil Wil on my Tuarus (don't laugh, please) to something with better rx and tx. However, I can't really go much higher than the lil wil. I guess a 10k is out the question for me.Phaze91460 wrote:I think I am running the shortest 10K.

NO. What he was saying was, he did'nt want a antenna, that would stick up any higher, than 12', after installed on the car. In otherwords, car + antenna, could not be over 12".The Tech wrote:Am I reading you right? You need 12 feet of clearance? That's not that short is it? So if the car is 5' high, then the antenna could not be more than 7' tall... Most Predator 10K's are less than or right at 6'....

The issue with me is I run a full size dodge ext pickup with a ladder rack on top with min of 2 ladders sometimes more. I am tall to start with. Mounting on TOP of the ladder rack means I had to have a shorter antenna so I could clear limbs from trees when I drive on properties without bending an antenna. I ordered the shortest 10K I could and it works for me. On a car or a smaller pickup you could run a taller antenna than I am and still not have the clearance issues I have.
I wanted the performance of the 10K

The short Predator 10K (SW), I noticed that John dose'nt show it on his web-site. But I'm sure he has it.
Another site that has it, and a picture of it, is One Stop Electronics. (who is also a sponser)
John maybe able to get ya a better deal, than 1-stop...But I cant say for sure.....
