Re: dedicated barefoot skip chanel
In theory a barefoot skip channel would be pretty cool, but the reality is that if most people can't reach you barefoot-they'll just switch on their amp and try again. That's what I do. I'll try barefoot then kick up the power if I can't make contact.
And of course I'm always flooded with skip from our buddies South of the Border during Summer. There's no rhyme nor reason to where those guys talk-you'll hear them all over the band sometimes or just one channel, doesn't matter, but they usually cut out most of the English skip for me.

Re: dedicated barefoot skip chanel
Something just came to mind when you said barefoot....I have this old guy that rips my tail everytime i say im running "barefoot". He seems to think running barefoot means you have your power on, your foot warmer, to keep your feet warm as they say.....lol does anybody agree with him? Says that us CBers have it all backwards.

Re: dedicated barefoot skip chanel
I was out in my shed about 10:30 this morning and turned on the radio for a couple of minutes. The skip was really coming in. I tried some DX on 38 lsb and couldn`t make any contacts, so I went to AM and found some quiter chanels.
I made 3 contacts real quick. Two in New York and 1 in Rohde Island. It made my day doing it with only 4 watts.

With a barefoot radio the conditions have to be just right, but it can be done.buffdadjj wrote:I will give out a yell on 22. I am running barefoot. I am usally on after 6 in the evening. I have been having trouble making any contacts. 313 south west Ohio

Re: dedicated barefoot skip chanel
Running barefoot, there are no real dedicated channels. I run barefoot all the time, do have the capability of adding some heat but I feel that takes the fun out of making contacts. Anyone can say they talked across the country on 1K but not many say 12w PEP.

Re: dedicated barefoot skip chanel
I only run barefoot on 11meters. Have no problem making contacts. May have to be a little more patient to get an answer, but I get it done.MDYoungblood wrote:Running barefoot, there are no real dedicated channels. Re: dedicated barefoot skip chanel
I see this thread was started about 2 years ago. I think it's a good idea on paper, but wouldn't stay with just "barefoot" for long with all the power running wild out there. I too have had contacts with 10-15 watts like mentioned, but not all the time. I agree it is a nice challenge, but to dedicate a freq. to barefoot I don't think would last long.

Re: dedicated barefoot skip chanel
I would think a freeband channel might be easier/quieter if you have the capabilities. I live in a hole in town so I get all kinds of receive but only have one contact out of state, on SSB, SW Ohio to New York.
