HOLY SMOKES.....

Working from a friend’s 140 foot tower with a 12 Element beam I was able to work Texas on 1 watt from the portable using AM, crystal clear!

With 4 watts, we swung around the beam due west and were picking off Saskatchewan, Alberta and Vancouver. We then flipped east and Atlantic Canada was just blasting in!

Went down to LSB and holy smokes, Mexico, Brazil, Costa Rica, and Paraguay!!!

We jumped to FM but could not find anyone out there so we went up to 10M FM ham band and worked FM which is really rare. We made it into the U.S. Virgin Islands, Barbados, Chad, Spain, Romania, Greece, India and Thailand which is frigging insane for 100 watts on FM. Tried for Japan and Australia but that was not going to happen.

Oh I am still psyched! I was so impressed with my buddy’s tower I went to the store today to find the exact same stuff he is running! Looks like a few thousand dollars but well worth it! I will see when I can make the investment but I will.

DAMN.. that was the most fun I have had in.... hell long time! DAMN, I am never this happy about radio stuff but damn! I feel like a kid.

I wish the guys in Europe were awake.. their band plans are a little different for CB so the frequencies and channels are different but they have FM over there so I mean we tried to get them but grrr.. they were all snoring! LOL

Oh it is a slick tower, only problem is that it is not freestanding, it has 6 guide wires, so in a really strong wind it may come down. Actually one of the wires came out of the clamp a few days back so he looped them around his pickup hitch. Seriously, if the tower had some down, the pickup would have gone airborne for a short distance LOL.

He is also considering replacing all the wire with heliax, something I would never be able to afford, but what an awesome tower! I will stick with coax =)

I wanna get a suburban and get the telescopic tower like news vans use that will go down while riding around then stop in a parking lot and hit the button and you have a mobile with 30' antenna that would be bad **Censored** with a 10-k and about 2500-3000 watts :4-gun: talk about a mudduck slayer lol
