P/u truck fabricated antenna bracket

I have some pictures of a bracket I had made/made myself. Started with a 1/4" thick 1" 1/2 or 2 x 1 1/2 or 2 angle aluminum. Don't remember the size. That I had from another project. It's about $5-$8 a foot depending where you buy it. Had about a 12" long piece. The shop at work cut a section about equal to the width of a antenna mount. Then split the rest about at the bend. Took the pice cut off and welded it to one of the sections of the length. Sorry should have taken picture while making and installing.

There was already a hole behind the bed I was able to access from under the tire well.
And, a second in the upper corner of the bed. Tapped two holes in the left over section of aluminum to line up with those holes. I felt the fabricated section wasn't tall enough. So I took the fabricated section and bolted it to the left over section. Wrapped the rubber around it just incase of sway. Not wanting to rub a hole in the cab. I took a trip to Walmart did not seem to have that problem.

Looks good. Were you able to set the SWR? Only reason I ask is sometimes if you don't scrap enough paint off, you don't get a good ground. Also, many truck beds have thick rubber insulators where they connect to the frame and can make it necessary to run a ground strap from the antenna mount to the frame.

I would probably swap out the orange zip ties for black. Looks like a slick mount and good use of supplies on hand. Good post
