WHEN INSTALLING MOBILE ANT. MY SET UP HAD A PLASTIC WASHER WITH A LIP THAT WENT UNDER THE ANTENNA STUD INTO THE HOLE IN THE STUD MOUNT THAT BOLTED TO THE BRACKET. IS THIS PLASTI WASHER NEEDED? WHEN I LEAVE IT THERE I GET NOISE, BUT GET GOOD RADIO CHECKS EXCEPT A LIL FEED BACK. WHEN I ELIMINATE WASHER .. IT IS COMPLETE SILENCE BUT I CANT SEEM TO GET OUT. I CAN ALSO LEAVE WASHER IN PLACE, THEN HOLD STEELL WRENCH FROM ANT TO BRACKET & FEEDBACK GOES AWAY UNTIL I REMOVE WRENCH. ONE MORE THING. WHE WASHER IS REMOVED MY NEEDLE ON RADIO SLAMS TO THE RIGHT. WHEN WASHER IN PLACE IT SWINGS TO ABOUT 7 ON DEAD KEY. I HAVE A S/W/P/ GEN LEE... THANKS FOR READING & RESPONDING. TROY

I believe you're shorting out your antenna by not using the plastic washer. It's there for that reason.

Yep,,Daydreamer is right,,without the plastic washer you'll burn up a final on the radio,,,,You are grounding the antenna to the transmit circuit

THANKS MUCH FOR THE INFO. I ONLY KEYED UP TWICE WITH WASHER OUT. I THOUGHT THE SAME AS YOU..IT MUST BE THERE FOR A REASON. I PUT IT BACK IMMED. FIGURED I COULD ALWAYS TAKE OUT IF I GOT CONFIRMATION FIRST.
