Impedance Matching Antennas

Gamma matches are functional but they skew the pattern of antennas some.

Pick up a copy of the May 2013 QST magazine published by the Amateur Radio Relay League (ARRL) which is the National Organization and Advocate for Amateur Radio in the United States and highly recognized across the world.

Read pages 60 and 61.

I have read good things about the Hairpin Match.

Private Message me if you'd like a location where you can find a Hairpin match because gammas are hard to find unless you buy a complete antenna.

Hairpin matching system is what is used on he new HyGain Super Penetrator 500 and a couple of beam antennas. They work really well on multi-band antennas and utilize just one feed point.

Yes absolutely MDYoungblood. For some reason I can usually edit messages but it is not allowing me to right now.

I just wish the article talked a little more about building it.

You can build them but may have to experiment although it does mention the computer program to use to calculate the matching of the hairpin system.

I just do not want to suggest the company I like for the Hairpin system as I do not want to get banned from CBRT. It is not the same system the Article is talking about but not a big difference.

Again if anyone Private Messages me I can help.

You could build your own like the "Ugly Balun" which will cover a huge amount of frequencies. To use the following link you will need to replace the word DOT with "."

Just how much 'slewing' does a typical gamma match produce? If it's just a few degrees or so there will probably be no noticeable affect with pointing the average directional antenna, so no big deal.
If you want to use a hair-pin or some other matching device you certainly can, why not?
