antenna choices
hey all, i drive a dump truck. i have been using old skool wilson 1000 trucker style antenna's. with all the rain we have been having here in the south central pa region, the branches along the road have been hanging pretty low. i have ripped my passenger side antenna off 2x in the past month.
my question is, is there something out there that won't hinder my perfomance, and won't keep snapping? i have been thinking about fiberglass, but i'm not a fan of fiberglass. would like something that can easily been tuned if need be, and something that can with stand the tree branch smacks.
thanks in advance for any and all help.

HEY KONVOY... TRY MOVING ANTENNA TO DRIVER SIDE. THIS MAY LIMIT THE CONTACT WITH THE TREES. ALSO I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM HERE IN ALABAMA, SO I TILTED MY ANTENNA FORWARD TOWARDS THE GROUND TO SUCH AN ANGLE SO THAT WHEN I'M MOVING... IT IS STRAIGHT UP. I GET GREAT RADIO CHECKS MOVING OR STOPPED.( OF COURSE I HAVE A S/W/P/ GEN LEE W/ A PRED 10-K.FROM RADIO ACTIVE ONE MORE THING I FIND WHEN I'M ON A BACK ROAD 2 LANE ROAD I WILL KEEP MY SPEED DOWN. THIS WAY THE ANTENNA STAY'S LOWER. THAT IS IF YOU HAVE IN THE TILTED DOWNWARD POSITION. THERE ARE DOZENS OF DUMP TRUCKS ROLLING BY MY HOME EVERY FEW MIN. ALL THEIR ANTENNA'S ARE TILTED. HOPE THIS HELPS... TROY[/b]
