Remember, don't set up your station just to key on other people, set up your station to keep other people from keying on you.

P.S. Oh, you were *serious*! Oh, OK, sorry.
Base: Vertical Omni -- wire J-pole suspended from outrigger on tree; Directional -- 6-element Yagi-Uda
Horizontal Omni -- full-wave loop (add vertically stacked elements for gain, if you've got the height for supports); Horizontal Directional -- 6-element Yagi-Uda
Mobile: Vertical Omni -- 8-ft stainless whip in center of roof; horizontal ,and gain in either polarization, isn't practical for a mobile in motion with anything I can think of on HF. Of course, as soon as you park, nearly anything can be hung to a tree or on a collapsible mast, like for contesting

Yagi-Uda, zygoma you are showing your age, lol. Anyone interested go to "Wikipedia" and look it up, interesting reading.
For me the old Avanti model # 170 Sigma 5/8 was the best antenna I ever had and an Antenna Specialist MR 510 "Big Momma" trunk mount on the car. Oh my Avanti Moonraker IV was nice too. As far as ham radio goes anything you can build with a stick and wire.
