I recently got a 150 watt no-name amp for free. I'll probably just keep it and stick it in the mobile since it's my first amp.

Just picked up a astroplane and 10m rig. Going to setup and use the 10m and cb this weekend. Hopefully I can tune this thing in and have some fun.

I just snagged a Uniden Grant for $40.00. It was listed as nonworking and for parts only. Got it hooked up and noticed a dual pot in place of a switch. It turns out it has the "Echo Echo, board built in. Radio works just fine.

Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?
sold my omegaforce for what i bought it new for, figured i dont need echo and the usb was always screwy on it from day 1.
Then i picked up a 257hp for 155.00 bucks, radio works like new, no issues, modulation is just like the omegaforce, nice and loud "punchy" with the magnum mic, has the rfx75 from the factory as did the omega., I love this thing

Mark , I was thinking about doing the exact same thing last night , I mean the EXACT same thing LOL!
I've heard the 257's are as good as a Lincoln/2510 with better audio. Keep us posted as to how you like that 257 , I definately want one.

Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?
i would have to agree, i have a lincoln and love that too but the 257hp blows it out of the water with its stock mic, i love it and would recommend it to anyone that wants a 10 meter mobile, its small but performs like a big boy, no toys, no roger beep, no echo but audio gives my tram a run for its money, no bs, the controls arent flimsey like the omega either, its a nice little rig

I just bought a galaxy dx 99v2 about a week ago. It' s my first export and I'll say it's. worth every penny. I've talked more skip than I ever did on my 980. That's driving with two watts power on both radios. The galaxy is just better and louder.

Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?
was shopping around lately for a tuner for my ft897d , I was interested in the ldg 897plus which is made for the rig and bolts onto the side, anyway during my online shopping i ran into a place that had a display model available at the low price of 120.00 so i grabbed it, came in today in its original box with instructions and hardware "cat cable", just mounted it up and it works like new.

Re: What have you recently acquired for new radio gear ?
Probably shouldn't post this until Wednesday but what the heck. I just bought the kl 503 yesterday and it could come as early as Tuesday. (If I don't change my mind and call and tell them I want the 203 instead on Monday morning) for what my needs are the 203 would be plenty. I have the 200p now but ssb is less than perfect on the 200p. Just really want good clean sound. I've always heard the first 100 watts are the ones that really matter anyway so is the 503 really any better than the 203?

friend of mine is low on money right now and stopped by the house to sell his Palomar Elite 250 H/D, I had a standing offer of 50 bucks that he came to collect, works great I'm sure i will find a use for it somewheres.

I bet you hear that most from people that only own 100 watt amps.silvereagle1 wrote: I've always heard the first 100 watts are the ones that really matter anyway so is the 503 really any better than the 203?
I recently bid on and won a Dentron MT-2000A Antenna Tuner. Got it very cheap and when I opened it up it looked like brand new inside, clean and smelled like an old trunk that hadn't been opened in a century. One of my best purchases so far. Don't know how I got along without it before.

I installed a Moxon MFJ-1890 Yagi beam. Works well in conjunction with my ground plane (Maco V 5/8). In addition to the Moxon beam, two D&A mavericks, a phantom, an RHF-618 and a W2IHY noise gate with equalizer.

I have the same amp dirty job, didn't realize it was classed ab biased. Some of the writing on mine is missing. Great little amp. Worked well in the mobile with a galaxy dx55v in front of it. I kept the dead key at 2 watts and never had issues with heat.
