If you take a directional antenna and rather than pointing at the closest distance to the station you want to qso with, instead point exactly in the opposite direction with your antennawhen the Grey line (sun one side and night on the other) at the correct time using the website below at your location you will sometimes be quite amazed at how long the distance of your contacts can be.
