i know there is a lot of tech plus out here. how many of you guys actually participated in the cq wwdx contest? I got on Saturday for about 2 hours in the afternoon and manage to work brazil, Trinidad, Tobago, England, France, madeira island, Turks and caicoss island, Canada, Kingman reef, Bermuda, south Africa, Cuba, Guantanamo, Santo Domingo, and a few more local islands, stations heard but could not work was Israel, India, Azores, Edmonton , arctic ocean station, Spain, canary islands, and many other stations. I was not prepared to work this contest and not aware that it was a contest weekend, but I know I heard the tech plus spectrum crowded from 28.300 to 28.500 wall to wall with activity. my working condition icom 7000, with a sirio ground plane up 75 feet 100 watts ssb, tuner was the palstar 1500. Antenna was so out of tune many weak stations were impossible to pull in. some stations like the madeira island expedition were an 20 over. Lots of fun this weekend and the solar count I believe was well over 175. Could not have ask for better dx conditions. Contest started Friday and ended Sunday about 7pm local new York time. If you have a tech+ license and never participated you have miss one of the world’s most popular dx context the world have ever known. Next year will be another one. I’ll be ready.

Hey Pete..

Yep...conditions/propagation was great this weekend and 10M was 'wide open'.

I usually participate in all the HF Phone contests, but I was visiting my son who is stationed in Tucson with the USAF.

I'll catch the next one for sure.
