I would like to send a qsl to 164 in Dallas Texas for this morning around 11:45 on lower 38. I spoke with him for a few minutes loud and clear. After I signed off I heard him talk to Alabama for a few minutes. I couldn't hear the Alabama Station so I sent him another CQ and he responded back and we talked again. he replied messages back and forth from me to the Alabama station for a few more more minutes. I used to live in Alabama and it was good to have this three way skip to talk to someone from that state and texas too I might add. I used to live in Alabama so this was a double bonus for me. So a QSL card your way my friend from Texas I didn't get the numbers on the Alabama station but I got your location around the GA state line. Qsl Card your way too. 567 in Tennessee on lower 38 at 11:45 on Wednesday July 31st 2013.

Greetings to 388 in Arizona. We talked for around 5 minutes or so today on lower 38 at 11:30. And greetings to 4444 in California we talked for about 5 minutes as well at 11:55 today (Saturday September 07 2013)

don't know if how is done here. but the proper way to make a contact for qsl card purpose is exchange calls or handles then exchange signal reports (signal report is a must) make sure you note the time of contact, Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is prefered ([Please login or register to view this link]) the frequency, the mode ex, cw,lsb,usb,or am, here is more info on filling out a qsl card ([Please login or register to view this link]) is for hams for cb radio is a little diferent but this link will give you a better idea. make out some qsl cards and get a P.O. Box this way you the contact station to qsl to your p.O.Box
a p.o .box makes your location adress a lot shorter therefore easier to transmit under heavy qrm or noise. over the last 3 decades on the radio i have done it this way and i have acumulated a large amount of qsl cards confirm (qsl card) over 300 countries and work all states all confirm with qsl cards. qsl cards is a great trophy of your achievement thru radio communications.

Wasn't trying to dot the I's and cross the t's. perhaps I shouldn't have used the word qsl card so loosely in case someone took it to heart and was offended. Sometimes it's ok to be informal and send out a cyber qsl hello to a contact you've made. I've had the snail mail qsl cards before years ago. I feel this is a somewhat be yourself forum so sometimes it's ok not to be perfect. One note, I understand what you are saying and appreciate how you mean it. If these guys are on this forum that I spoke with on the air we can do our exchanging right here on the Internet. Something you couldn't do 20 years ago. A cyber qsl so to speak.

Lots of operators use their own web sites that allow comments and images to be posted after DX contacts have been made.

I usually give a contact my email address and then exchange mailing addresses through email in order to exchange QSL cards.

i hear you eagle. i'm hoping some other reader could benefit from some of my info. qsl trading is becoming a lost art. nothing beats the looks and feel like good old wall paper especially if done low power (qrp) nothing beats the feeling of busting a pile up with 5 watts.

i agree. you did post some very good info and links... back in the day the 80's in my case i exchanged information with people and sent as well as recieved cards in the mail. thought it was pretty neat back then. since i've been on this forum i've talked to some stations out west and upstate new york boston texas etc. just thought what if these guys come on here to cbrt and search their number? they would find where i added a post where i spoke with them on a certain day. i was thinking like me i guess. i've searched my own number just to see what pops up. you're an old ham guy i can tell and you are used to doing it the text book way as you should be. that says alot about about your background and love for the hobby. i am not a ham "yet" but will be someday in the future. if you want to give me pointers to help me learn the hobby from a hams side of things i'd be more than happy to listen.

Way back in the day we had a CB club here in my locale, we had a PO Box. Once a month we would meet for a coffee break, the QSL cards received in the PO Box would be announced and passed out... that was a proud moment among members, nothing was better.

yes hams have the same system today is call the qsl bureau. is located in morristown NJ. all outgoing and coming qsl cards go to the bureau this is only for DX contacts only (outside the USA) you could save a lot of money in stamps the bureau will take care of any qsl postage all you had to be is a member of the ARRL and you get this service for free.

Talked to 494 in California today on lower 39 For a few minutes around 3:30 eastern time. he was the only skip I was receiving on that channel at the time which made for good communication for several minutes. cyber QSL card sent your way 494.

Talked to 4444 again today.. I seem to be able to snag him on a semi regular basis. Almost all my skip seems to come from California now although I was getting some from Utah and Oregon. I keep looking for CBRT members. any of you guys from California? There for a while about a month ago I was getting hammered out from Texas but I don't get Texas anymore.

Hello! I am interested in finding people who know about the history of CB culture in its prime, especially the printing and exchanging of QSL cards. I am a historian and documentarian who bought a CB as soon as I got my first car. I lived three blocks off the highway and eventually connected the CB indoors and would chat with truckers from my basement. They were often surprised to hear a sixteen-year-old girl on the other end! hahaha. Anyway, three summers ago I found the most amazing thing that I never knew existed---two sets of QSL cards from an antique store in the Wisconsin Dells. Since then, I've been hooked! As a historian, I'd like to find out more from those who participated in the creation and trade of their QSLs. I'm looking to tell the story of a few of those who remember the excitement of this type of pre-facebook social networking.

If you can, please consider and answer/contact me with responses to the following questions here or in a message:

1.Did you have a QSL card?
2. Did you trade them?
3. Do you have a collection?
4. Do you know others who traded? Who may still have a collection?
5. Or do you have merely a strong recollection of QSL trading?

I found this thread and if some of you are still kicking around here, I'd love to hear from you! I love some of the stories shared already! Thanks in advance!
