Super Star DM-507-5 Mic Wiring
Hello all, could anyone tell me the mic wiring for a Super Star DM-507-5? It's a non amplified mic I need to wire to a 4 pin Galaxy Saturn. Thanks in advance.

Hello 2SF611,
Welcome to the forum. There are 2 models of the -5, one with a 5 pin mic plug (Cobra and Uniden radios) and one with a 5 pin din plug (Realistic). Which model do you have? I can't tell you the colors of the wire but can't give you pin to pin changeover.

Thanks for the welcome Greg. The mic has no end on it now but was originally wired for a Cobra 142gtl.

Okay that does make it harder but I can give it a shot. Strip back the end about an inch to expose the wires , one should be braided and surrounding a wire, they are the shield (usually bare) and audio (usually white), the rest are the control wires. So the shield would go on pin 1 and the audio would go on pin 2 of the new plug. That will leave 3 or 4 wires left, one is the switching ground and the others are the TX and RX. Here is the tricky part, you have to determine which is which, a multimeter or ohm meter comes in handy here. Touch each of the wires with the meter to figure out which is the ground and solder it to pin 1 also, the wire that shows contact and loses it when the PTT is pushed is the RX that goes to pin 4 and the one the shows contact when the PTT is pushed and loses it when released is the TX , that goes to pin 3. If there is one wire left it most likely isn't needed and just clip it so it can't make contact in the plug.
I hope this helps and I didn't make it confusing, I had to read it a couple times myself to make sure I got it right.

If it works post the colors and pin numbers so it makes it easier for someone else can benefit from the post. Aftermarket microphones don't always follow a standard like the old Turners and Astatic microphones, they always seem to throw in different color wire combinations.
