D 104 Amplified

I am trying to wire an older D 104 TUG8 amplified mike. Does any one know how to wire it to a old Sonar FS23 tube radio.

The mike has 3 wires. And plugs in to the radio via a 1/4 inch jack.

I wonder if you can hurt any thing if you just try different wire positions on the 1/4 inch plug jack to see which wires will work...or key the radio.

Well I wired up the mike, it keys up the radio...but no modulation with that mike. The other D 104 non-modulated works though.

Any idea will be appreciated.

Well, radios that have 3-pin mics use relays, and 4&5 pin don't. Since the 4&5-pin mics weren't made for a relay type system, I'd imagine it would trip the relay, but the audio wouldn't work. I'm by no means an expert in the subject, so don't take this in any way as a definite answer. Maybe somebody more knowledgeable will chime in....

I have the same style mic from an old Cobra Cam 88, relay type, I wanted to use it on my Galaxy 2547, same problem. Then I noticed a switch on the board inside the mic, one of the choices was relay and the other one was marked ???, don't remember, but I took it off relay and it has worked fine since. Hope it helps you out.

Yes I did finally fiqure it out. I was grounding both the white and the shield wire to the same connector.
