Hey..

Yep...she's on vacation alright.

DX skip (out of North America) has been pretty much non existent on 11M and the little skip that I do get has usually come around about 10:00 AM local.

The small amount of DX on the HF bands has been slow and go for a while now...and when a DX entity is on...whoa...the pileups are crazy.

Shoot had direct connect to SE Georgia, SC, NC, and then up the coast yesterday at around 1pm or so. Talked to spaghetti Eddie and a 54 out of SE GA, and then it seemed to work it way from there north. It was wild as I just rehung a new home made dipole at 25ft and man they were hitting with and s9 +20 on my icom 746. That's like what my 5 mile locals sound like. It was cool. Made quite a few contacts on 38lsb. 50 watts and a homemade horz. Dipole works wonders at times. Like yesterday. It's fun to just get an antenna up, turn the radio on and have some short skip.

Last night around 1900hrs CST I was on 38lsb and was hitting Florida to Canada. Had a good conversation with a guy on the other side of TN but we jumped up to 39lsb because 38lsb was getting crowded. There was also a guy on 38lsb that was out of freq and sounded completely garbled and others started complaining to him about it. Other than that it's been hit or miss here is TN.

Heard "Obama Radio" while hanging my coax today. Uhhhh, round abouts 1330h I guess. I was called off to pull an idiot off the shoulder back onto the trail. People just love to book down the dirt roads with their Humvees. This one is the really small one......weird looking JOKE!!

I drove the military Hummer! Now that is a rig!

I think ole "4444" is a barometer for skip, he's on the west coast and when I hear him on I know I can get out too.

I have been hitting the skip on my mobile in iowa pretty well the last few days. I drive east/north east with a trunk mount Wilson and have been hitting Louisiana and North and South Carolina with ease. .. have not hit straight east with it, but I'm happy with the contacts I'm making

At least we have been getting the East coast from GA to NY and into Canada at times. It's fun to talk to GA, SC, NC, DC and those areas that we don't get real often. Shoot hearing spaghetti eddie the other day at 9 over was wild!! He isn't that far from me in terms of skip. It was a short hop that went from there to SC and on up. I think I talked to just about every state that day, couple days ago. Flipped on radio randomly and boom it was on!! Hopefully as things cool down and the end of the year gets closer the conditions will pick up. I'm sure they will but not like 2-3yrs ago. Man I made contacts with a stock uniden pc68 and a lil wil antenna on AM! Now that was wild!! Mother Nature had my back that day!!
