Short Skip

I was wondering where is the shortest skip you have talked. I'm in east central Iowa and was in the car on 38 lsb tonight and called out CQ iowa mobil, and had Wisconsin coming back... I don't know where in Wisconsin the station was, but 200-300 miles I would think. To me that's pretty close for skip. What is the shortest distance you have talked and still considered it skip?

The shortest skip distance that I have made contact was from Cincinnati OH to here in Pittsburgh PA, which is about 250 miles as the crow flies.

Short skip mainly ranges 200 to 500 miles straight line and is rare, anything shorter than 200 I would consider ground waves which is just as rare. The best ground waves I've done is talking to Ocean City, MD from home (105 miles) but I've been catching some guys on 38lsb at night that are in Atlantic City, NJ (117 miles), short skip was to 1303 in SW Virginia, a little less than 500 miles. I'd find a distance calculator off the internet, there are several free ones.
