Re: 10k
You say your meter is reading into "infinity"...What kind of meter is it?Big Guns wrote:I have a new 9" shaft 10K mounted on a 2005 Grand Marquis and I cant get the swr's to read anything but infinity. Anybody have any suggestions?
Where you have the 10K mounted, with the 9" shaft, you should be able to at least get a swr of 1.2 to 1.3 if all your connections are right, and not grounding out.
With a taller shaft like maybe the 17", you should be able to get a 1.1 swr, But if your still seeing anything over a 2.0, either you have ground short somewhere, or possibly your stinger is too short or long.

Good eye there.... yes, it's bent forward slightly. Reason being is that it already sits at a slightly backward angle, and running 70+ mph like I almost always do, the stinger is laid back from the wind force. With it slightly forward, the stinger stands more straight up at highway speeds.Rex_foxhound wrote:Hey 521, is it just me or is the stinger on your 10K bent? It may just be that picture or the angle the car is sitting...
I've considered drilling it out and using a stinger made from a 102" whip or even some stainless cold roll to stiffen it up and keep it vertical.
Guess I could always buy a ball mount for the puck, but this was just as easy and serves the purpose just fine. *shrug*

Well...You can drill out the top section of the 10K and use the whip off of a Monkey Made, that will work. (same thing as the top of a 102" whip)521 Houston wrote:Good eye there.... yes, it's bent forward slightly. Problem is, doing this, sence the stinger is going to be thicker, it will also end-up being somewhat shorter, after you re-tune the swr. And also may not tune as low as it did useing the Predator stinger.
I have tryed this...Did'nt work out too good for me.
