Robyn T123B Help
I have Robyn T123B. I want to add channel 26.935. I was told I needed to get a crystal (23.240) and install it. I have the crystal but I do not know what crystal or crystals need to come out to plug in the new one. Can anyone help?

Re: Robyn T123B Help
Looking at the channel selector inside the radio there are two groups of crystals, one bank has 4 crystals and the other has 6, the first one in the 6 banks should be marked "Q1", that would be the one I change. Doing this mod you will lose the regular channels 1 thru 6 for the lower channels or use a DPDT toggle switch, run a pair of wires (as short as possible) to the crystal socket from the center contacts of the switch, put one original crystal on one side of the switch and the new crystal on the other. Depending on the wire length, it should be fine but sometimes the length causes the crystal not to oscillate properly.

Re: Robyn T123B Help
The Robyn 123B has one bank of crystals (10 in a row) with two other soldered in crystals elsewhere in the radio . I tried swapping out the first crystal in the row but the radio wouldn't work at all. received nothing but a loud humming noise on all channels.

Re: Robyn T123B Help
Was it marked "Q1"? I'm going by a schematic, don't have a radio in front of me. It should be marked "23.290" on the crystal.

Re: Robyn T123B Help
YES, found the 23.290 (second crystal in from the end). I swapped it out and we're in business:-) Thanks my friend.

Re: Robyn T123B Help
Glad I could help. Are you thinking about doing the toggle switch like I suggested so as to keep the regular channels as well?

Re: Robyn T123B Help
No, dont need that. I would like to find a Mic adapter though so that I can use my D104 or stock Astatic 636L 4 pin mic on the Robyn T123B. I have my feelers out trying to find out if there is one available.

Re: Robyn T123B Help
Just rewire the microphone jack in the radio to Cobra/ Galaxy/Uniden, then you can switch them out, I do it all the time on 4 pin radios so the owner can walk into a shop and grab a mic right off the shelf.
