Amped mic for mobile?
So finally I was able to talk to about 5 guys tonight on my mobile. Some on the extreme other end of town and some over the state line which is about 3 or 4 towns away. They all say my signal was good but my voice was quiet and all say an amped mic would do me some good.
I under stand there are some Mics with known problems which of course I want to try to avoid. While looking around the net there is always that one or two bad reviews on every mic. So I figured I would ask here.
What mic is recommended for a Uniden PC78ELITE with a light tweak? Is noise cancelling a must?
Also I would like roger beep if at all possible. But not necessary.
I figure a lot of you guys know the products well and could help me cut to the chase.
Thanks in advance for any info you can give...

2018 Extreme. Selective n/c and noise toys. Excellent sounding mic with all the noise crap OFF.

X2 on the RF XTREAM 2018... it has echo, n/c, power and talk back...all fictions can be used at the sametime or can be turned off... no Rodger Beep tho...usually that is something that would be installed in the radio itself, not the Mic.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

You might want to open the radio up (speaker side) if it is right out of the box and give the modulation pot a tweak. In the back of the radio in front of the antenna connector is a variable resistor (VR4) note the position it is in and then turn it counter clockwise from just better than half to all the way to the left. That should improve the modulation on a stock radio.

Re: Amped mic for mobile?
Thanks. The radio is not brand new. I got it from a buddy already tuned up. When he ran it he ran it with both a stock mic and amped. He was the original guy who told me it would super scream with a amped mic and I had that confirmed last night. The radio works well with no problems, I just need a bit more punch because I am a mobile.MDYoungblood wrote:You might want to open the radio up (speaker side) if it is right out of the box and give the modulation pot a tweak. most power mics are fine until you turn them too high and overmodulate, squeeeeel, as far as noise toys, please,, i personally dont appreciate any of it except a roger beep used only during extremly weak contacts.

Here's a link to CB World Informer "magazine" from Oct. 2001 where they have audio samples of the various effects the 2018 Turbo and 2018 Extreme can produce:

They aren't really a vendor and aren't in competition with any CBRT sponsors, so I figure posting the link is okay. If not, just Google the Oct. 2001 issue of CBWI.
It's an outstanding mic, and has settings from "sensible and intelligible" all the way to "annoying as hell".

Great link. Thanks for that. Unfortunately the audio files no longer work, but it's a good write up any ways. Glad I chose a good mic.PA629 wrote:Here's a link to CB World Informer "magazine" from Oct. 2001 where they have audio samples of the various effects the 2018 Turbo and 2018 Extreme can produce:
