HAM Radio Antenna

#383718

Post by 1 ADAM 12 »

I am installing a ham radio in a Jeep Cherokee. I have Comet CA-2X4SR dual band antenna with RG8X coax using PL259 connectors. I am wanting to use an SO-239 UHF-Female Bulkhead Adapter Connector to connect the coax and the antenna. Would the bulkhead adapter work on a mobile installation without causing grounding issues or swr issues?

The antenna uses a SO-239 to mount it so the only problems would be to get the correct amount of threads (depth) in the antenna base and sealing it to the weather, other than that it will work. I would recommend a good non-corrosive silicone sealer. A few members have used the Sirio roof mount with good results.

Thanks. I am going to give it a shot this weekend. I will take a photo and post it when finished.
