Static when using HID headlights
Just installed my mobile. Uniden PC78ELITE with a Wilson 500. I get very little static until I use my headlights at night.
The radio is power off of a cigarette lighter, I know that is the issue. Is there anyway to correct this static and still use the cigerette lighter?
Thanks in advance.

I posted this on your other topic as well so here it goes. If the HID's are aftermarket check the manufacturer's website to see if filters are made for them, if original equipment then contact the dealer, most new cars using them should be filtered for noise. The best power connection for the radio is directly to the battery, that should eliminate most noises caused by the wipers, seat and mirror motors, heat/ac blower fan, etc.

Another weird thing I have noticed is when some other cars accelerate around my car it causes static in my radio.

That is not uncommon, catch up to them and say, "You need a tuneup!!" ,Chrisnick wrote:Another weird thing I have noticed is when some other cars accelerate around my car it causes static in my radio.

Tried running radio straight to the battery. No change.
