Car setup- Routing coax...

Hey guys,

I just picked up the Radio Shack glass-mount "cell phone" antenna for my Uniden BCT-7. I am going to place the antenna on the rear windshield of my Buick Regal. What is the best way to run the coax from the rear windshield to my scanner which I have placed underneath my ashtray. I really want the coax to be as hidden and out of the way as possible. I have thought about removing the headliner but getting it down and back up looks like a whole operation. My only other guess would be to run it along the floor by the door jams and secure it using carpet tacks. Any suggestions guys?

Thanks alot.

1st off you'r not going to like a glass mount antenna for that scanner . I've used that type in the past and there not really good for hearing traffic . my suggestion would be to get a NMO mag mount and place that on the trunk lid and either get a nmo 18 inch 1/4 wave or a nmo 150 which is a 49 inch whip . i ran both for yr's and had good luck with every thing i had in my scanner . which was Lo Band , VHF , UHF , 800 . so don't use that glass mount

Any 2 way radio shop ....1 that install's police and fire radio's ....All you would need is a mag mount for 3/4inch nmo 150 coil it should come with 17ft rg-58A/U and a teflon pl-259 connector . the whip you need is a 49inch . I tell you what you'll never go back to a RS junk antenna . When i had mine i could hear every band i had programmed . go to this site and see
