Sorry bout that! My BT keyboard is acting up. Didn't mean to post as is. Mod please change as you see fit.

I just read the rules of this sub forum and whole-heartedly agree. I'm a radio enthusiast. Plain and simple. I got into CB about 5 years ago with a Cobra 29LX that someone gave me. I quickly upgraded to SSB with a Galaxy DX959. I got out of it for a few years because of circumstances. I purchased a new truck and didn't pull my rig out of storage for a while. Since I did, I re-joined CBRT, and have ordered a rather expensive radio from a fella named Lester. Ya'll may know who I'm talking about. My CB mobile rig isn't going anywhere! I just got my Technician license, still waiting on my call, as a way to further explore the radio enthusiasm. Nothing more.

My subject line should read "HAMCOM" only. It's coming up in 2 weeks. I wanted to ask if anyone here has been to [Please login or register to view this link] It's supposedly the largest Hamfest in Texas, held in the Irving Convention Center near Dallas. I may be VERY new to HAM, but am enthusiastic about it. (see what I did there?). I'm wondering if it is something worth attending. I've been to other "Fests" to be very disappointed. It's not really a problem for me, as my parents live in Dallas, and I can stay whether they are home or not...just don't want to waste a weekend for something less than mentionable. If anyone has experience they care to share I'd appreciate it. If it's really worth while, I may drag my Dad along with me. He could use a hobby to help compensate for the never ending honeydo lists he has.

I just went to a small local hamfest on Sunday, I think the small ones are nicer and usually can find a bargain in the mix. Sadly, I was looking for a variable air cap, one seller had some but wouldn't come down on the price, I handed him my card and walked away, always another hamfest coming up soon.
