A few days ago I had a 20 minute conversation with a nice man in Michigan. 36 LSB, sounded like he was right in my driveway.

Put a new radio in my pickup last night. An RCI-2950DX. Like it very much. On the way into work this morning, at 6:00 AM, the skip was rolling into Western New York from the South. Talked to a person from Alabama, sounded like he was sitting right next to me.

Hi Mike . Yes , I have a McKinley and like it a lot. I have gotten a few compliments on how I sound on SSB. I have the RF power turned down and a little RM Italy to help it reach out there.

I rarely hear anyone from PA on skip, but a few days ago I was talking to half of Allentown on 31 AM. What a crew!

Ooops, I said everything was dead out here in the west. For a week now I got nothing on my Washington, just quiet static. Decided the skip had gone on vacation. Then I started picking up all kinds of stuff on am on the Galaxy but still nothing on the Washington. I thought the rig might be acting up and tried running some tests and noticed right off the SWR was through the roof. Sheeeesh! So I ran out to check my antenna and it was fine but then I noticed the coax coiled and hanging on a tree branch and remembered uncoupling and rolling it up for my wife so I could till her flower garden up for a bunch of new purple flowers from Home Depot. Boy did I feel stupid.

They say you don't die all at once, some things go first, like memory ... at least I think that's what they say ...

Now that it's hooked back up, still got nothin'. Dang.

Cool, we are barefoot on a DR-dipole and had contact with Asheville, NC and Dayton, OH and New Hampshire. I'm using the D-104 M6B and I don't think I have it turned up too much.
Today is all static at the moment but I did have a QSO with a driver on 19 looking for a truck stop.
Allentown is about 2 hours north of me.

I don't know about a handheld in a boat. Between the kids, extended family and me, we've lost a lot of cellphones boating. We usually take a few frs handhelds and haven't lost any of them yet. They're great for ship to shore. I've had a marine radio in the boat but hardly ever use it (well had ... sold the boat). But, the new boat will definitely get a cobra along with the marine radio.

Got a little activity on 28 usb, 10 and 7 lsb coming in now but only strong enough to catch bits & pieces. Hope it gets better.

I only heard Washington this afternoon. Didn't turn my radio on til noon. Talked to 178 world radio for few minutes. He had old stories of 1970s DX. He was looking in his log book to see if he spoke to my dad.

Hey Rod, Did you hear him down in Kentucky??? I just turned on the ol' Washington and it's sippin' wall to wall, mostly the northwest but it's coming in loud and clear, 36, 37 & 38 & 39 LSB. Still listening to see who and where. N Cal sounds like they're broadcasting from my garage.

Good stuff, I'll be shoutin' out for you Mtn Lynx ... or at least listening for you.

Keep hearing NY, NJ, CT, NH and RI. Nothing out of MD or Alaska. Heard PA in there but couldn't make a contact. Skip is so unpredictable.
