I hit 819 in San Diego and a unit in Mesa Az. tonight while on my way to work, doing 70 MPH down westbound I-80 near the "hunters view" rest stop (near American canyon). Cobra 148F (breathed upon by Bullet Bob) a Minuteman II mic, a little 2 pill and a Predator 10K Competition plus 12" shaft antenna. Not bad..........Fun times!

Good to know it's still out there. A couple weeks ago talking to Northern Cal was like talking to my neighbor but then it went silent. Don't know where you are 295 but haven't been hearing from there either. Haven't heard a peep for over a week but ... I forgot I'd disconnected the antenna, duhhhh. So I'll be listening tonight! Somebody, please say something! Loud, so I know I'm still here.

It was great today. Lots of contacts mostly on AM 28, and 36,37,and 38 Lsb. I had a QSO with operator 221 out of Fairbanks, Ak. That's a 4,000 mile trip from my QTH here in East Tennessee.
I also made contacts on on 10 meters today. I'm licensed. Anyway good times in the shack today.

Most of the day yesterday and then again last night skip was all over the place. had some really close skip too, less than 500 miles. This is all very unusual for this phase of the sunspot cycle, we are suppose to be in the null (less active time). Can't complain, use it or lose it I say.

On Sunday I had so much skip coming in it was hard to find a quiet channel. 38 LSB was so busy I could hardly make out one person over the other. I had a nice chat with someone on 36 LSB...until some guy with a huge amplifier decided 36 AM was the place to be.
