Radio help
I'm used to running a straight am 40 channel radio, I have used Cobra 29 WX NW ST and the Cobra 29 LX. I'm wanting to move up into SSB radios and have been looking at the President line, specifically the McKinley 2. I'd like to do a mic upgrade and run a RM KL203P behind it with a Sirio 5000 mag mount antenna on the roof of my 2006 Silverado. I don't have a ham license and at this point in time I'm not interested in one. Looking for opinions on this radio/setup. TIA.

Re: Radio help
Hello TEXLONEWOLF,
Welcome to the forum. A good starter SSB would be either the President McKinley like you mentioned or a Uniden 980 SSB, both are good to go frequency wise right out of the box. That little amp will be fine with either as well and I might say the antenna is an excellent choice. This is just my opinion and others may like something else.

Re: Radio help
Hi Texlonewolf,
I use the Mc Kinley as a base radio with the Patriot 12' and
D-104 M6b mic. Once in awhile that little RM KL 203-P is connected as well.
Is a very good working little radio that is connected to a Pyramid PS7KX.
73 and good luck with your rig.
