Jeep antenna
So I tore the top off my 5’ firestick. I have a 3’ FS installed now I had laying around.
Not sure I want to drive around with a 9’ steel whip...I know that’s the best performer but....
Talk me into it! Or maybe recommend something else...
The 5’FS was just touching the car port roof going in and out so a 108” I’d have to have a way of tieing it down.
Mount is off the aftermarket spare tire carrier and I want to keep it there.
I gotta do something, 3’ sorta sucks. My wife was on the base and started loosing me about 5 miles away.

Re: Jeep antenna
That is always a bummer. I recommend anything over 4ft, 3ft just doesn't get enough antenna above the roof line. check out the Everhardt brand on CB World, I've always had luck with them. You could find the replacement caps for the FireStik as well there. One last suggestion,, slow down going into the carport,, lol.

LOL, actually it was the car wash. I know, bonehead move on my part. It was way more than the cap, it actually ripped it open.
Everhardt sure makes a lot of models. When I had my 4’ FS it tucked nicely under the soft top above the side window. Great if you were going into a parking garage. 5’ would probably do that too but I’m rocking the hard top now.

Re: Jeep antenna
Been there,, done that,, took my pickup with a 102" whip on the left side of the bed through a car wash, the kind that has brushes, bent the antenna into a dyslexic question mark,, I was too embarrassed to take a pic of it. You will be hard pressed to find a 5ft Everhardt but the 4ft "SOTT4" is an excellent choice.

Re: Jeep antenna
Does the SOTT4 have a screw tunable tip? The description does not say...

Re: Jeep antenna
It does have a tune able tip but not a screw type, it is a short rod and set screw.

Re: Jeep antenna
I’m thinking about it. Still on the fence.
Is the 102” tuned by trimming only?

Re: Jeep antenna
Most likely using a 102" whip you will need to give it some length, I don't care for springs, the whip is flexible enough, they sell what is called a "riser" to get the antenna a little longer.
