New install advice needed.

#389751

Post by samthetramp »

Hey I'm looking for advice to install my cobra 29 into my new truck. I had it installed in a 05 Chevy and really wasn't happy with the location of the radio or the antenna. I need to put it into my 2018 Dodge 2500 Tradesman and just can't seem to see it anywhere but on the floor board in between the dash and seat. It would be kind of a pain reaching the controls if I put it there.

Does anyone have a radio mounted in a 2014-2018 Ram on here that could post some pics or at least give me some ideas?

Thanks

Yes they certainly designed the new vehicles very unfriendly to installing a radio. You might want to rethink the Cobra 29 and go with one of the new smaller radios, possibly the new Stryker SR94HPC or maybe if you like SSB the Anytone AT-6666, I think both would fit in the "junk pocket" under the truck's radio/nav system.

I have the New President McKinley AM/SSB/Weather radio installed in the dash of my 01 Tacoma...The radio is DIN size so it can be mounted in the dash of allot of vehicle's... best thing to do is see if there is a place you can install the radio...The dimensions of the McKinley is 6.69"x 5.91"x 2.05" (WDH)

in my case all I did was remove the 2 DIN factory stereo and installed a regular single DIN stereo, then had room for the CB...probably can't do that with your truck, (or may-not want too) but there might be a place you can fit the radio...The McKinley is packed with allot if features most radios don't have, and when you match it up with a amp, the thing screams!
