Cobra 29 smoking R104

I have a Cobra 29 that I was Installing an echo board in... This is my personal radio, therefore I was in a rush and I googled up... We've been selling the ranger boards lately that call for 8 volts however I was putting in a used one that I had from a while back which operates off of 13.8 volts... My stupid self wasn't paying attention and out of habit I put it on an 8 volt source but at the lamp... Next thing I know rec went out, ch display went out, and R104 smoking and regulator tr23 getting hot. I changed out tr23 and R104 and took Tr22 I think, the lamp driver for ch display out of circuit for now... But R104 still smoking! Any ideas?

Sounds to me like there is something wrong with the echo board, hooking it up to the 8v source shouldn't have caused any of those problems. I'd say disconnect it and start from scratch after replacing all the bad components and toss that echo board away.

I double checked all my connections and it was a "technicial" error.. Lol my finger must have moved because instead of the shield of the mic out cable going to ground it was on a a dead gum V+ feed... Lol all good now.
